Preface
If you are going to invest the time and money to get hair extensions, you need to know all the facts as hair extensions are NOT a one size fits all.
This book was written to present all the facts in one place and to save you valuable time and money in your quest for hair extensions.
Hair Extensions-The complete consumers guide to getting hair
extensions will bring you the very latest solutions and
advances in hair extension methods. Much of the info on hair
extensions is very hard to find and many salons/stylists and
hair extension companies can be very secretive about their
methods.
Armed with all the facts you'll be able to make informed
choices about the type and method of hair extensions to
pursue. All attempts have been made to include the most recent
and factual research about hair extensions. However, there is
no guarantee that future studies will not change the
recommendations and information presented here. The mention of
specific products, companies or brands in this book does not
constitute an endorsement by either the author or Hair
Resources.

Introduction
We would like to
EXTEND a warm welcome to everyone!!! May your hair extension
decision be made with knowledge! We start with the hair that is used
for the extensions, as there are many different terms and
definitions for human and synthetic fiber hair. Your stylist will
typically select and order the hair. Then we move to the methods to
attach human or synthetic fiber hair extensions. Some methods will
work better than others, depending on the condition of your hair and
the purpose of your hair extensions. An experienced hair extension
stylist will be able to tell you more about what method will work
best for your hair situation.
There are companies that
offer hair extension training for cosmetologists, or they just sell
hair extension kits and products. We have included many of the hair
extension companies that train and certify stylists.
The consultation for hair
extensions can be instrumental in alleviating many possible
problems. Find out what is supposed to happen in the consultation,
what your stylist should be asking you, and what you should ask your
stylist. You must come to your consultation prepared with the right
questions. We have compiled a list of various detailed questions for
you to ask your stylist.
Many things can go wrong with hair extensions,
thus making your research even more important. Some women have
reported their hair falling out, the extension hair severely
tangling, or even extreme discomfort with the added weight. Be aware
of what can go wrong. Also important--each U.S. state and other
countries have different requirements for doing hair extensions.
Make sure your stylist has the proper license and training. This is
in addition to making sure your stylist has the proper training for
the type of extensions you are getting.
Finally you need to know how to find a hair
extension salon in your area. Information on finding a stylist is
included in the information for each of the hair extension
companies. Hair Resources is always available to help you find a
hair extension stylist in your area if you do not wish to contact
any of the companies directly. Just send an Email to
support@hrhairextensions.com and list cities and zip codes
that you would like to find a hair extension stylist and we will do
our best to get you several different salons that offer some of the
different methods available. If you still want to know more about
hair extensions, we have included all of our website references,
book references and individuals that we have spoken with in
preparing this book.
