Facts and Tips

Every U.S. State has different rules that apply to hair extension services.  Consult with your state board of cosmetology for current information.

Does my stylist need
to be certified or licensed?

In addition to making sure your stylist has been certified and trained to do hair extensions, you also need to make sure they meet the state requirements for hair extensions.

There is a list of the United States requirements for licensing in each U.S. state included in the E-book, Hair Extensions-The Official Consumer's Guide To Getting Hair Extensions.

All attempts have been made to include the most recent laws. However, we
encourage you to visit each of the state websites to verify the license information.
On the websites, you will be looking for BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY and STATUTES to find out the specific laws.

Some of the Board of Cosmetology websites have what is called a license lookup. You can look up the name of your stylist or salon to find out if there have been any
complaints against them. There are also online forms where you can file a complaint about a service you received.
